MERCY COMMUNITY CHURCH - WHO WE ARE

Our Minister - Pastor Jim Perkins

In his own words:

Jim Perkins is just a normal guy who has clung to his faith in God through many ups and downs in his life. Things haven't always been easy, but God has always been there. Jim loves his Heavenly Father and is amazed and humbled that God would choose to use him. Prov 3:5-6. He is the founding pastor of Mercy Church, a community striving to show Christ's love to their neighbours and beyond as they serve others, loving people where they're at, and doing what they can to help meet their needs. He loves to read the Bible and other materials, especially studying culture and the architects who shape it. He’s a die-hard Ottawa Senators fan, loves sports in general, and has a long list of coaching experience behind him. He also tears up the bass guitar on a regular basis as part of one of Mercy's worship teams. Jim is married to Shana and together they have 4 incredible kids, 2 dogs, and 2 cats....it's a crazy life!

Our Elders

Elders function primarily as discerners, teachers and guardians of the community. They are peacemakers, prayer warriors, leaders by example, and decision makers. They function as overseers for the entire community, and as such they evaluate the effectiveness and direction of the church according to three criteria:
1. The church’s mission.
2. The church’s resources.
3. The church’s doctrine.

The board of elders was comprised of Sandy Schafer, Brian Penney and Pastor Jim Perkins. The lead pastor was a permanent member of the board of elders.

Our Stewards

The stewardship team oversaw all financial matters related to MCC. The stewardship team’s primary function was to ensure the financial health of the church and overall function and operation of each branch of the church’s ministries.

The stewardship team was comprised of Art Seidel, Kevin Schafer, Todd Kelly, and Brent Daniel.
